Blackberry jam
Note: the amount of sweetener depends on the sweetness of the fruit. Adjust if needed.
In a wide pan, add 2 cups of blackberries and your preferred sweetener.
Mash using a potato masher to bring out the juices of the blackberries. Do not mash it too much. Do not use a blender as you don’t want to turn it into a liquid.
Peel the apple, remove the core, and cut into squares. Place in a microwave-safe container and microwave for a few minutes until fork tender. Alternatively, you can steam it. Mash the apples using a fork. You need 1/3 cup of cooked apple.
Add the mashed apple to the mashed blueberries. Place over heat. Let it come to a light boil and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until it starts to thicken.
In a small bowl, add 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour and 2 tablespoons of water. Stir to combine.
Pour the flour mixture into the jam while continuously stirring. Bring it to a light simmer, then cook for another 2 to 3 minutes. Once thickened, remove from heat.
Transfer to a jar and let it cool at room temperature for at least half an hour to get the right consistency. Place the lid then store in the fridge.
