This half square triangles around the world quilt by Missouri Star is one of the easiest projects you can make at home. As the title suggests, this only uses HSTs. They are arranged in a way that creates this beautiful diamond pattern. I bet you can finish it in a day! Happy sewing.

Take two 10″ squares – one light and one dark. Place them right sides together. Sew all the way around the outside edge with a quarter-inch seam allowance.
Cut it diagonally from corner to corner in both directions. Set the seams with the dark fabric on top, then open and roll them back so the seam is on the dark side of the fabric to hide the seam allowance. Trim the half-square triangles. Find the diagonal line on your ruler and line that up along the seam. Make sure the outside edge of your block is on the 6 1/2″, then cut the excess.
Get four half square triangles and arrange them in a four-patch with the lights together, forming a diamond in the center. After that, arrange the second layer on the sides, with the white triangles pointing outward and the darks together to form a bigger diamond. For the corners, flip the triangles – the darks should be pointing outward. Repeat the process for the next layers.
Once you’ve got it all laid out just how you like, sew them together. Sew them together by row, then press them flat. Flip them over and press the seams, making sure they are going in one direction. For the next row, press them the other way so you can nest them. See the photo below for reference. Once the rows are done, sew all of them together.
