This gravy stuffed stuffings muffin recipe by Food Wishes on YouTube is so unique and different to serve instead of a basket of dinner rolls for Thanksgiving. I think it would be a great idea to switch things up for the holidays with this recipe because I don’t think it’s a common dish to make. The muffin would create a crispy exterior with a moist and savory interior.
Ingredients:
For the Country Gravy:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 ounces sweet Italian turkey sausage, casings removed
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons chopped green onions
- 1 ½ cups cold milk
- salt to taste
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper, or to taste
- freshly ground black pepper to taste
For the Stuffing:
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- 1/2 cup diced celery
- 1 cup diced onion
- salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 5 cups chicken broth
- 12 cups dry bread cubes
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh Italian parsley
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh sage
- 2 teaspoons minced fresh thyme
- 3 large eggs, beaten
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Directions:
First, start off by making the country gravy, set aside to cool off, and refrigerate for about 2 hours. Then, preheat the oven to 400F, and start on the stuffing mixture. Continue to watch Food Wishes tutorial on YouTube for full instructions and details.

Next, once the stuffing is ready, butter a muffin tin, and fill up each muffin cup with the stuffing mixture. Fill them up high, and wet your finger to poke a hole into the center of each stuffing cup. Place the cold gravy in the hole, and mold each muffin over the top to cover the gravy center.
Overall, I love this idea of having the stuffings in a ball form, because I would limit myself from overeating. The balls are a perfect size, and I think they are super cute. Note that it is important to work with chill gravy because it will be easier to work within the end to fill.
