Nothing beats a good old-fashioned recipe made by Grandmas. I remember my childhood where my Grandma would always bake or cook treats for us and how good it always tastes. This Christmas I would be the one to show off my cooking skills and as always, whenever I needed a good recipe that I can use, I would always browse on my phone and watch tutorials of my favorite YouTubers. That’s when I found this video tutorial by Whippoorwill Holler, her instructions were very easy to follow and taste very delicious too, almost identical to what my Grandma makes for us. You can also give this generation-old recipe a try, serve this to your family and friends this Christmas, and be reminded of the good old childhood days.

Materials:

  • 3 cups Sugar
  • 2/3 cups Hershey cocoa
  •  tsp Salt
  • 1½ cups Milk
  • ¼ cup Butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • Nuts

Directions:

Step 1

In a pot with a candy thermometer and set to medium-high heat, add the sugar, cocoa, and salt. Stir it a little bit before adding the milk, continue stirring until it reaches 240 in the thermometer. Once it reaches the softball stage, turn the stove off then add butter, vanilla extract, and nuts. Do not stir, and just let it rest or cool down until it is lukewarm.

Step 2

Once the chocolate mixture has cooled down, start stirring the ingredients until they are smooth and well-combined. Pour the mixture in a foiled and buttered 8×8 square pan, spread it out evenly. Let it cool and set before taking it out of the pan and transferring it to a plate.
