Ingredients:

  • 2 summer squash
  • ¼ cup of cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Oil, for frying

Directions:

Step 1

The first thing you have to do is to slice the squash into thin pieces, and set them aside. Next, grab the plain Ziploc bag, add about a quarter of a cup of cornmeal, and 2 teaspoons of sugar, then season it with some salt and pepper to taste. Then seal the bag and give it a good shake until all of the ingredients are well combined. After mixing all of it open the Ziploc bag to add the squash inside and shake it once more until all of the pieces are well coated.

Step 2

Place a large skillet pan on a stove over medium heat, then add some oil and let it heat up. Once the oil is hot enough add the squash in batches so as to not overcrowd the pan. Fry the squash until cooked through and both sides are nice and golden brown. Continue cooking the rest of the squash make sure to place the cooked squash on a strainer to drain off the excess oil. Serve and enjoy!
