Ingredients:

Sausage rolls

  • 6 pieces or 1 pound of sausages
  • Onion flakes or seasme seeds, to garnish

Fat head pastry

  • 1¾ cups of mozarella or other mild cheese, shredded or grated
  • ¾ cup of almond meal or flour
  • 2 tbsp of cream cheese, full fat
  • 1 egg
  • A pinch of salt, or to taste
  • 1 tsp of onion flakes

Directions:

Step 1

Cut the sausage skin, then peel it off, and discard. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, then preheat your oven to 220°C or 425°F, and place the sausages in a single layer. Let the sausages cook for about 10 minutes and while waiting, prepare the fat head pastry. In a microwave-saf ebowl, add the shredded chees and almond meal, then mix them together to combine, then add the cream cheese, and mix them lightly before putting it in the microwave to melt for 1 minute. Stir them together and put back in the microwave for 30 more seconds, and stir to combine. Add the egg, salt, and onion flakes or powder, then mix them together until well combined, lay a baking paper on a surface, and transfer the pastry on top of it

Step 2

Place another piece of parchment paper on top, then flatten it out with a rolling pin into a thin rectangle shape, peel off the top sheet of paper, and trim off the edges to straighten. Place the sausages along the longer edges, then roll it over once, and slice off the excess pastry. Cut the rolled piece into bite-sized pieces, then drizzle some oil on top, and sprinkle some onion flakes or sesame seeds. Repeat this process with the rest of the pastry and sausages. Lay the sausage rolls evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and lightly greased, then bake them in the preheated oven for about 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown all over. Serve and enjoy!
