Guacamole is a staple in our home, and we love pairing it with almost everything – tortilla chips, crackers, avocado toast or eat it just the way it is. There are a lot of guacamole recipes, traditional or fusion ones, on the internet, but our absolute favorite is this roasted garlic guacamole from Villa Cocina on Youtube. What can I say? This recipe is definitely the best I’ve tasted. That hint of spiciness coming from habanero and the garlicky taste paired with the creaminess of the avocados – it’s definitely the best recipe out there. So if you’ll try making this, make sure to make a big batch, as it will be gone in the blink of an eye. Watch the video below to learn the step by step instructions.
Ingredients:
- 2 cloves of garlic, unpeeled
- 1 habanero (or serrano or jalapeno)
- 2 large avocados
- 1/2 cup tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 cup red onion, diced
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1/2 juicy lime (1 tbsp)
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt (or to taste)
Directions:
Step 1
To start, prep and chop the ingredients accordingly. Dice the tomatoes and red onion and chop 1/4 cup of fresh cilantro. Set them aside. Next, roast two garlic cloves and one habanero on a griddle over medium heat. After this, peel the garlic and grind them with a pinch of salt using a mortar and pestle, then add the habanero. Continue to grind until pasty texture.

Step 2
Next, cut the avocados open, remove the seed, and scoop it into the mortar and pestle. Mash it down, keeping the chunky consistency. After this, squeeze out half a lime into the mixture, then mix it with a spoon. Lastly, add the chopped tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. Mix everything to combine. Season with 1/2 tsp kosher salt (or to taste). Serve and enjoy!
