Start by preheating your oven to 325F and placing the rack in the center of the oven. Line an 8-inch square baking pan with foil across the bottom and up the two sides.
In a large mixing bowl, add the chopped nuts, dried fruits, and chocolate chips. Mix to combine. Next, add the flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Mix until everything is coated with the flour mixture. Make sure there are no clumps of dried fruits.
Get a separate bowl. Add the egg and vanilla and beat until thick and the color turns light. Add to the fruit and nut mixture and mix until everything is coated with the batter.
Evenly spread the mixture into the prepared pan. Press it to compact the batter.
Place inside the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown and it’s starting to pull away from the sides. Once done baking, remove from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool. Remove the bars from the pan by pulling up the edges of the foil. Cut it into squares or bars.
You can store these treats for about 10 days at room temperature.
