I would normally choose Flamin’ Hot Cheetos over the original plain cheese ones. There has been a trend in coating food with Hot Cheetos dust such as breading fried chicken, pickles, or grilled cheese sandwich. This Flaming Hot Cheetos grilled cheese sandwich recipe by Definitely Not Gourmet is under 3 minutes long which is fast and quick. The guy in the tutorial is so funny. Also, I knew he looked familiar to me because he makes tutorials on Tipsy Bartender on YouTube where he teaches how to make easy alcoholic drinks. In this tutorial, I’ve made notes on what I would switch out. For example, I would use whole wheat bread and different types of cheeses. Velveeta cheese is super thick and cheesy though, but I prefer cheddar and pepper jack cheese.
First, pour Hot Cheetos in a bowl and muddle it until they’re crushed. Take the Velveeta cheese and cut slices to put onto the sourdough bread. Make sure to cut nice and thick slices to cover the whole entire slice of bread.
Next, layer and coat the outside sandwich with lots of butter. Sprinkle the Hot Cheetos dust on top of the butter, and flatten it out with the spatula to make sure it sticks to the bread. Repeat on the other side of the sandwich.
Overall, I love grilled cheese, and this would be a nice twist to add crushed up Flamin’ Hot Cheetos on the outside. Also, I would even try to add hot Cheetos on the inside of the sandwich. Just imagine the nice crunch that goes along with the cheese inside. I’m excited to try this grilled cheese recipe out because I love Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
