Do you love salads? If you do, you have to try Downshiftology‘s famous waldorf salad recipe! It’s absolutely delicious and easy to prepare. If you are wondering, the salad got its name from the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City, where it was created. But the original recipe only has three ingredients–apples, celery, and mayonnaise.

The modern version of this salad recipe contains a lot more ingredients. This one has Greek yogurt, lime juice, honey, grapes, walnuts, parsley, and kosher salt. You can substitute walnuts for pecans if you prefer. Be sure to roast them, then cool them before adding them. Roasted nuts give a nice flavor and crunch to your salad.

In a pan over heat, add 1 cup of walnuts or pecans. Toast until they get a little color and have a nice toasted smell. Alternatively, you can toast them in the oven. These nuts will give so much flavor to your salad. Once done toasting, let them cool completely, then roughly chop.
Start by making the dressing. In a small bowl, add 3 tablespoons of greek yogurt, 3 tablespoons of mayo, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of honey. Stir until well combined. Set it aside.
In a large bowl, add the diced green apples, 1 cup diced celery, halved grapes, cooled chopped walnuts, chopped parsley, 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt, and mayo dressing. Stir until everything is well coated.
Serve it with butter lettuce leaves if preferred. Enjoy!
