This is definitely one of the easiest patterns out there. All you need to make the diamond shapes are half-square triangles. You just have to sew two pieces of half-square triangles in the same color together with the colors forming the shape. It is that easy. To make several pieces of HSTs at a time, Jenny Doan used the magic 8 method, which makes 8 pieces of half-square triangles at a time. Watch the video below for full instructions.
Take your 10″ square and draw a diagonal line from corner to corner in both directions. Sew a 1/4″ on either side of both diagonal lines. Cut in half horizontally, vertically, and directly on the diagonal lines. Press them open towards the dark side.
Arrange two pieces of half square triangles just like in the photo below, then sew them together. Repeat with the other half-square triangles. Make sure they all go in the same direction.
Sew them in pairs to make a block unit. You need 10 rows with 8 blocks units each. Sew them in rows first. Once done, sew the rows together.
