As an artist, I always look for new techniques to enhance my skills in drawing, particularly in painting. This video from Designer Gemma77 on Youtube, where she shares new ideas on how to paint flowers, is just perfect for me. Who would have thought that you could use a plastic bag to paint flowers? The results are amazing and you don’t even have to be a pro painter to achieve such gorgeous painting! Learn this technique by watching the tutorial below.

Materials:

  • 1 large plastic bag
  • fluid acrylic (your choice of colors)
  • 20×20 cm. cotton canvass
  • paintbrush
  • dotting tool
  • rubber band

Directions:

Step 1

Get a large plastic bag. Put your hand inside, grab the middle part of one side of the plastic bag, and make a knot outside. (Don’t make the knot too big, a small one will do.) Once you’re done making the knot, flip the plastic inside out. After this, make sure the plastic bag has air inside before securing the openings using a rubber band. Set aside while you start preparing the canvass and fluid acrylic.

Step 2

Take out the canvass. On the side, lay out three different colors of fluid acrylic (of your choice) and spread them using a small pet sheet or anything you prefer to use to help you spread the fluid acrylic nicely. Get the plastic bag and start dipping the part where the crumpled part of the knot is into the acrylic. Start painting into the canvass using the plastic bag to create intricate flowers. After painting the flowers, get a paintbrush and dot some black colors on the center of the flowers to make them more beautiful. You can also add details like leaves and small dots using a dotting tool.
