Start by preparing the apples. Peel the skin and remove the core of each one, then slice them into 8 thick pieces.
Place the apples in a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt. Mix until well incorporated. This will prevent the apples from browning.
Place a pan over heat and add the butter. Once melted, add the sliced apple, followed by 1/2 cup of light brown sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder. Mix until well combined. It will have this brown sauce.
Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for 5 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine 1 teaspoon of water and 1 teaspoon of cornstarch. After 5 minutes, add the slurry mixture to the apples. Mix until well combined. Let it cook until the sauce thickens, then turn off the heat.
Add in a plate or bowl, then serve with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
