Growing up, my siblings and I loved eating these pink jellies that are most commonly known as Turkish delight! I have always wondered how to make these at home and I was surprised when I saw this video tutorial by Nino’s Home on YouTube and found out that it’s not that difficult to make and doesn’t even require an oven. So, I immediately tried making this delicious treats myself at home and they tasted so delicious and identical to what we always used to eat. Give this recipe a try, too, you’ll love it for sure.
Step 1
In a medium-sized saucepan, add the sugar, water, and lemon juice, then put it on a stove over medium heat and stir them together until well combined. Let the mixture cook for about 15 minutes or until bubbling, then remove it from the stove, and set it aside. In a large deep pan, add the cornstarch, cream of tartar, and water, then stir them together to combine, and place the pan on the stove over medium heat while stirring consistently until it becomes thick. Remove it from the heat, then pour some of the cooled sugar mixtures on the pan, and give them a good stir to incorporate.

Step 2
Add half of the remaining sugar mixture, then mix them again together to combine, and gradually pour the remaining sugar mixture while mixing consistently until well combined and uniform. Put the pan back into the stove over medium heat, then let the mixture cook for about 30 minutes while stirring consistently, add the vanilla extract and a few drops of the food coloring, and continue mixing until uniform. Remove it from the heat and the stove, then line a 6-inch square cake pan with parchment paper, and brush the bottom and sides with some cooking oil.
Step 3
Pour the candy mixture into the prepared pan, then tap it lightly on the counter a few times, and let it sit for about 3 hours. Lay a parchment paper on the counter, then dust it with some cornstarch as well as the top of the candy, and then unmold it upside down. Peel the parchment paper off of the candy, then dust it with more cornstarch, and start slicing. Once done slicing it into smaller square pieces, generously dust each piece with cornstarch, then serve, and enjoy!
