Did you know that you can make waffles using potatoes? I think they’re even better than the usual way waffles are made! After watching this video by Webspoon World on YouTube, I already knew I had to try it. I was really impressed with the result because it was the perfect fusion of creamy, fluffy, and cheesy. I can’t get enough of this recipe and I can see myself making this a lot in the future.

Ingredients:

  • 400 grams or approx. 1 pound of potatoes
  • 125 grams or 1 cup of wheat flour
  • 5 grams or 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 piece of egg
  • 5 pieces of green onion
  • 120 ml or ½ cup of milk
  • Cheddar cheese slices
  • Ham slices

Directions:

Step 1

Peel the skin off of the potatoes, then cut them into wedges, and place them in a large pot filled with water. Let it boil for about 20 minutes until fork tender, then drain off the excess water. Transfer the boiled potatoes to a large mixing bowl, then start mashing them well. Add in the wheat flour, baking powder, salt, egg, chopped green onions, and pour in the milk, mix all the ingredients together until they are well combined.

Step 2

Scoop out some of the mixture and spread it evenly into the waffle maker pan, you can also grease with butter beforehand. Add a slice of cheddar cheese, ham, and another slice of cheddar cheese, then top it with another portion of the mixture and then close the waffle maker. Let it fry for about 5 to 7 minutes or until golden brown. Drizzle some chocolate syrup or any of your favorite syrup on top, cut it in half, then serve.
