Potatoes can be prepared in a lot of ways and guaranteed they would still taste delicious every single time. But, probably a personal favorite of mine is baked scalloped potatoes with lots of cheese served hot in a skillet pan, just like this recipe by Food Network Canada on YouTube. This dish is super delicious that kids and adults alike will surely love, even picky eaters would have a hard time saying no to this.
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 400°F, then place an 8 or 9-inch oven-safe skillet pan on a stove over medium heat, and let it heat up before adding 3 tablespoons of butter. Reduce the heat to low, then let the butter melt until frothy, add the flour, and whisk them together for about 30 seconds until lightly browned. Season them with salt and pepper, then add the milk, and continue to mix them together until smooth. Remove the skillet from the heat, then transfer the milk mixture into a large bowl or measuring cup, and set it aside. In another bowl, add the sliced potatoes, then season them with salt and pepper, and give them a good toss.

Step 2
Place the potatoes in the skillet making sure they are slightly overlapping each other, then sprinkle some of the cheese, and continue to layer the potatoes and cheese alternately until you’ve used all of them up and the cheese is at the very top. Slice the remaining butter into smaller pieces, then scatter them all over the top of the cheese, and season it with more pepper. Cover it with aluminum foil, then place it in the preheated oven, and let it bake for about 60 minutes. Remove the foil, then continue to let it bake or broil for about 5 to 10 more minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly. Once done baking, remove it from the oven, then let it cool down for about 10 minutes, serve, and enjoy!
