Ingredients for Sweet Chili Chicken:

  • 0.8 pounds of chicken, boneless and skinless
  • 3 tsp of finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp of red chili flakes

Marinade

  • ½ tsp of white pepper powder
  • ¾ tsp of salt
  • ½ tsp of soy sauce
  • 5 tbsp of cornstarch
  • 1 small egg, beaten

Sauce

  • 6 tbsp of Thai sweet chili sauce
  • ¾ tsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp of brown sugar

Other

  • 3 tbsp of green onions, chopped
  • Oil, for deep frying
  • Slurry (½ tsp of cornstarch + 3 tbsp of water)

How to Make Sweet Chili Chicken:

Step 1

Clean the chicken and cut it into bite-sized pieces, then mix together the ingredients for the marinade, and add in the chicken. Set it aside and let it marinate for about 30 minutes, then place a pan on a stove over medium heat, and add the chicken in batches to not overcrowd the pan.

Step 2

Deep fry them for about 5 to 6 minutes, then remove them from the oil and set them aside while preparing the sauce. Remove the excess oil from the pan, then add chopped garlic, and saute it for 1 minute before adding the red chili flakes. In a small bowl, mix together the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar until uniform.

Step 3

Add the sauce to the pan and mix them until well combined. Add the cornstarch, then cook them for an additional minute, and then put the fried chicken into the sauce. Gently toss and cook them over high heat for 1 to 2 minutes until well coated, then garnish them with green onions, and serve immediately. Enjoy!
