Whenever my family and I order takeout, I always ask for Mongolian ground beef because they are just so good that I can never get tired of eating them. Just recently, I was craving that dish and while browsing the internet I found this recipe by Aaron and Claire on YouTube, and I was so surprised that it only takes 15 minutes to make! I went ahead and gave it a try, and oh my, all I can say is that I am surely going to make this on my own more often now.
Ingredients:
Meat
- 5 green onions, chop (some of the white parts) and cut into strips
- 5 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 2½ tsp of ginger, grated
- 3 tbsp of oil, divided
- 1.1 pound of ground beef
- 5 Vietnamese dried chilies, optional
- ½ tbsp of toasted sesame oil
Sauce
- 3 tbsp of soy sauce
- 2 tbsp of sugar
- 1 tbsp of oyster sauce
- 1 tsp of chicken bouillon powder
- ½ tsp of dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp of light corn syrup
- 2 tbsp of cooking wine or water
- Black pepper, to taste
- 5 tbsp of water
- 1 tbsp of cornstarch
Directions:
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients, and then in a small bowl, add the soy sauce, sugar, oyster sauce, chicken bouillon powder, dark soy sauce, corn syrup, cooking wine, black pepper, water, and cornstarch, and stir them all together until well combined and incorporated. Place a wok or pan on a stove over medium-high heat, then add 1 tablespoon of oil, and let it heat up before adding the ground beef.

Step 2
Break them apart and cook for about 7 to 8 minutes or until nicely browned, then remove it from the wok, and set it aside for later. In the same wok or pan, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil, then add the chopped white parts of the green onions, garlic, and ginger, and saute them for 1 minute. Next, add the thicker white parts of the green onions along with the dried chilies, then give them a good stir cooking them for 30 more seconds, and pour in the sauce.
Step 3
Allow them to simmer for about 1 minute or until the sauce thickens a bit, then add the cooked beef back into the pan, and mix them together cooking them for another minute before turning off the heat. Add the green onions and sesame oil, then give them a good mix to combine, and transfer to a serving dish or bowl. Serve with hot cooked rice and enjoy!
