Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 large red bell pepper, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, de-seed, and chopped
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground chipotle
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 28 oz diced tomatoes
  • 15 oz red kidney, rinse and drained
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 1 & 1/2 tbsp brown sugar

Directions:

Step 1

Heat a pan over medium heat, then add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Break the meat apart, then season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix everything. Add the diced onion, red bell pepper, minced garlic, and jalapeno pepper. Season with salt and pepper to taste then mixed everything. Cook for two to three minutes, then transfer them to your slow cooker.

Step 2

Once the mixture is on the slow cooker, add the chili powder, cumin, chipotle powder, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, red kidney beans, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, red wine, and brown sugar. Mix everything until well combined. Taste-test the mixture at this point and add more salt as needed. Put the lid on and slow cook on high for six hours.
