Last week, I invited friends to come over for dinner so that we can bond and catch up. While having guests ae a joy, preparing and planning meals could get pretty discouraging. I wanted to impress them that’s why I wanted to serve the best meals I can cook, however, with all the dishes I have to prepare, I would need all the help I can get. I got stuck on deciding between a simple and easy meal or a mouthwatering but complicated one. Not until I found this tutorial on YouTube by BurningCereal, his barbecue recipe might be the best I’ve ever tasted. His method is also very easy, I just have to prepare the meat, cook it on the crockpot and while waiting I can go on ahead with other dishes too. It was a simple method but it doesn’t compromise the taste, in fact, it even makes it better. My guests loved dinner and guess what’s their favorite, the BBQ ribs!

Ingredients:

  • lbs. Pork ribs
  • 2 liters Coca-Cola
  • 2 cups Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp. Paprika
  • 1 tbsp. Cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp. Onion Powder
  • 1 tbsp. Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp. Salt

Directions:

Step 1

First prepare the barbecue rub to coat the pork ribs in, combine the brown sugar, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, black pepper, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk the dry ingredients until there’s no lump left, and start coating the ribs, make sure that all sides are completely covered. Place the ribs onto the crockpot and let it sit for a while to make the seasoning completely stick to the meat.

Step 2

Pour the coco-cola but make sure it’s not directly on the ribs to avoid removing the seasonings, once the ribs are completely submerged you can sprinkle more brown sugar at the top if you want your barbecues sweeter, however, this step is completely optional. Cook it on a low setting for around 6 hours, then remove it gently from the crockpot, drain it a bit, and place it onto a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Brush barbecue sauce on the ribs then pop it in the oven for about 10 minutes, then serve.
