Step 1
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the ground beef, 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce, ½ teaspoon of garlic powder, salt, and pepper, then mix everything together until well combined and divide them into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ½-inch thick patty, then place a large skillet on a stove over medium-high heat, and heat the olive oil.
Step 2
Place the patties and cook them until both sides are nicely browned and cooked through, then transfer them to a plate, and set them aside. Pierce the potatoes all over with a fork, then microwave them for about 5 minutes, and let them cool down before chopping into 1½-inch pieces. In the same skillet, add the onions, then season them with salt and pepper, and cook them for about 5 minutes or until softened.
Step 3
Add the chopped potatoes, then pour in 2 cups of broth, and then bring the mixture to a simmer. Let the potatoes cook for about 5 minutes or until the potatoes are tender, then in a large measuring cup, add the beef broth, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, thyme, and cornstarch, and whisk them until dissolved and combined.
Step 4
Pour the mixture into the skillet, then cook them for a few more minutes until thickened making sure to stir frequently. Turn the heat to low, then put the patties back into the skillet, and cook them for a few more minutes until the patties are hot and cooked through. Adjust the gravy with salt and pepper to taste if needed, then serve, and enjoy!
