Ingredients:

Rolls

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 packets yeast
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1⅓ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 4 large egg
  • 2 large egg yolks

Toping

  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Flaky sea salt

Directions:

Step 1

Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter and set it aside. In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the flour, yeast, and salt, then beat them until combined, and set them aside. Place a small pot on a stove over medium-low heat, then add the milk, butter, and honey, and heat them until warm and melted.

Step 2

Pour the butter mixture into the flour mixture, then in a small bowl, beat together the egg and egg yolks until combined, and add them into the flour mixture as well. Knead them over medium speed for about 5 to 7 minutes or until smooth and elastic, then rub a medium-sized bowl with oil, and put the dough in it.

Step 3

Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel, and then let it rise for about 30 to 40 minutes. Divide the dough into 15 pieces evenly, then roll each into balls, and place them into the prepared baking pan.

Step 4

Allow them to rise for about 1 to 1½ hours or until double in size, then brush the top of the rolls with beaten egg, and place them in an oven preheated at 350°F to bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 5

Place a small saucepan on a stove over medium heat, then add the butter and honey, and stir them until melted and smooth. Once the buns are done baking, brush them with the prepared sauce on top, then sprinkle with some flaky sea salt, and serve. Enjoy!
