  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 3 tbsp softened unsalted butter
  • sliced almonds for topping (optional)

Directions:

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Next, in a large bowl, add 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tsp instant dry yeast, 2 tbsp sugar, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 large beaten egg (set aside 1 tbsp to be used later), 1/2 cup warm milk, 1/2 cup raisins, and 3 tbsp softened unsalted butter. Mix together well for 5 minutes. After mixing, cover it for an hour. After an hour, transfer the dough to a floured surface. Knead the dough for a bit just until it’s floured enough, then divide it into 8.

Step 2

Roll each piece of dough into a ball then press it with a rolling pin into an oval shape. Fold the dough from the shorter sides inward. Place them on a baking tray and cover for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, brush each top with egg (1 tbsp from the egg on the dough ingredients.) After this, sprinkle some sliced almonds on top. (This is optional.) Place them in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
