  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 24 pieces of breakfast sausage, any kind that you prefer
  • Eggwash: 1 egg + 2 tbsp milk, beaten

Directions:

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, add the egg, milk, sugar, and instant yeast, then whisk them all together until combined, add the flour and salt, and continue to mix until a dough starts to form. Add the butter, then knead until incorporated and smooth, drizzle the bowl with some oil, and place the dough, move it around to coat it nicely. Cover the bowl, then set it aside, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until double in size.

Step 2

Punch the dough to degas, then transfer it to a clean surface, and roll it out into a 15×10 inches rectangle. Cut it in half lengthwise, then cut each strip into rectangles as shown in the video, and place a sausage on the wider end of each triangle dough. Roll the dough toward the pointed end, then place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and proceed to roll the rest making sure to space them evenly.

Step 3

Cover the bowl, then set it aside, and let it rise for about 20 minutes while preheating your oven to 180°C or 350°F. After 20 minutes, beat together the egg and milk, then brush it over the top of the sausage rolls, and top them with sesame seeds if you want. Place them in the preheated oven, then let them bake for about 15 minutes, and then let them cool down for a bit before serving. Enjoy!
