Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F, then chop the peaches into 1-inch pieces, and place them in the bottom of a casserole dish spreading them evenly. Sprinkle the lemon zest over the top, then squeeze over the juice of ½ lemon, and set them aside.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, add the butter and ¾ cup of sugar, then beat them for about 1 minute until creamy and combined, and set it aside. In a separate bowl, add the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon, then whisk everything together, and add them to the butter mixture.

Step 3

Continue mixing them until fully combined, then pour in the milk while beating over low speed, and switch to high speed beating them until light and fluffy. Transfer the mixture over to the top of the peaches, then spread them evenly, and smoothen the surface.

Step 4

Sprinkle ¼ cup of sugar evenly on top, then pour hot water covering the entire top, and place it in the preheated oven. Allow it to bake for about 60 to 65 minutes or until the top is brown and cracked and a toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean. Let it cool down for around 30 minutes to 1 hour, then serve, and enjoy!
