Materials:

  • Blue acrylic paint, different shades
  • Magenta acrylic paint
  • White acrylic paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Masking or painter’s tape
  • Pencil
  • Cotton swabs
  • Canvas

Directions:

Step 1

Place tape on all sides of the canvas for the border, then using your pencil, draw a heart at the center, and the tree’s body underneath the heart drawing the branches around the bottom of the heart as well. Apply different shades of blue all over the canvas with the darker at the top and the lightest at the bottom, make sure to blend them well, then splatter some white paint all over the top half for the stars effect using your brush as shown in the video. Using black paint, trace the tree’s body, then draw the branches as well, and add more details. Tie three cotton swabs together, then dip the ends in magenta paint, and dab them all over the heart shape.

Step 2

Mix together the magenta and white, then dip the cotton swab set, and dab them all over for some accent. Grab a clean single piece of a cotton swab, then dip it in white paint, and dab it on the heart for some highlights. Paint the bottom of the tree or the ground with black paint, then add a few thin strokes at the top near the tree for the grass shadow, dab more magenta around the tree’s body for the effect of the falling petals, and dab a few whites for the highlights Once the paint has dried completely, gently peel off the tape around the sides of the canvas, and you’re done!
