Step 1
In a large microwave-safe bowl, add the egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, salt, and milk, then whisk them together until smooth and combined, and heat the mixture in the microwave on a high setting for about 4 minutes. Remove the mixture from the microwave, then give it a good whisk, and put it back to heat up for 2 more minutes. Remove the bowl, then whisk it around until thickened, then continue to whisk for about 1 more minute, and mix in the butter and vanilla extract. Strain the pudding mixture in a bowl, then cover it with plastic wrap, and make sure to lay it directly on the surface of the pudding.

Step 2
Let the pudding cool down to room temperature, then place it inside the fridge, and allow it cool for about 3 to 4 hours. In a mixing bowl, add the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, then beat them together over medium-high speed until medium-stiff peaks form, and add about ¼ of it to the pudding. Fold them together until combined and incorporated, then set the remaining whipped cream aside, and spread 1/3 of the pudding in the bottom of a serving bowl.
Step 3
Add a layer of Nilla wafers evenly, then add a layer of banana slices on top, and top them with another 1/3 of the pudding followed by wafers and banana slices. Add the remaining portion of pudding on top and spread it until the banana slices are covered, then place it in the fridge, and allow it to chill for at least 2 to 4 hours. Once ready to serve, give the whipped cream a quick whisk, then dollop it on top of the pudding, serve, and enjoy!
