This make-ahead casserole recipe from Fifteen Spatulas on Youtube is perfect for busy holiday mornings. It’s super easy to put together and is flexible enough to add any ingredients you like. Ingredients:

  • butter, for greasing
  • 1 lb fresh sweet Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 standard loaf of day-old white bread, 6 cups cubed
  • 1 & 1/2 cups of grated white cheddar cheese
  • 9 oz bag of fresh spinach, cooked and drained
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of milk
  • salt and pepper

Directions:

Step 1

Cut and prepare all the ingredients accordingly. Next, add the cubed loaf to a big bowl followed by freshly diced tomatoes, cooked spinach, 1 & 1/2 cups of grated white cheddar cheese, and the cooked and crumbled Italian sausage. Toss the ingredients together to combine. Once that’s all mixed, place the mixture in an 8 x 12 casserole dish.

Step 2

Now, to make the custard, crack eight large eggs in a bowl, then add 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of cream, a pinch of salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Whisk well to combine. Pour this over the bread mixture, then cover it with some plastic wrap. Bake it the next morning in a 350 degrees F oven for one hour until it’s golden brown.
