Materials for Magic Pillowcase:

  • Directional fabric, main
  • Dark print fabric, coordinating
  • Light print fabric, contrasting
  • Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
  • Ruler
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
  • Fabric pins and clips
  • Needle and thread
  • Iron, for pressing
  • Sewing machine

How to Make a Magic Pillowcase:

Step 1

Download the pattern and cut the fabric as instructed, then fold the main fabric in half with its wrong side facing, and lay it on your work surface. Fold the dark print fabric in half, then place it on the top edge, and place the folded light print strip in the middle of both fabrics as shown in the video, make sure to position the light print strip with the folded side facing down.

Step 2

Roll the main fabric upward, then fold the dark fabric over until the edges are matched, and pin them in place. Stitch them together with ¼ inch seam allowance, then turn them inside out, and press them down nicely. Stitch the sides and bottom, then turn it inside out, poke the sides, pin, and stitch the sides and bottom. Turn the pillowcase right side out, then poke the corners, and you’re done!
