This easy boxed cake recipe by Catherine’s Plates on YouTube is so delicious and loaded with chocolatey and creamy goodness! I made this for my nephew’s birthday a few weeks ago and he loved it, even my family thought it was so yummy that they asked me to make it again. You should also try this out, too, it’s very easy to prepare and super worth it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box of devils food cake mix + ingredients at the back of the box
  • 2 (7-ounce) jars of marshmallow cream
  • ¼ cup of water
  • 2-3 tbsp of hot fudge topping
  • 1 (8-ounce) container of whipped topping, thawed
  • 2 (1.25-ounce) packets of instant hot chocolate powder

Directions:

Step 1

Prepare the cake mix according to the package instructions but to make it fluffy, swap the oil with melted butter and the water with milk, then bake it until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the sides of the cake are pulling away from the pan. Once done baking, let the cake cool for about 15 minutes, then use the rounded end of a wooden spatula or similar to poke about ¼ inch of holes all over the cake, and make sure not to poke all the way through, just about 2/3 into the cake is enough.

Step 2

In a microwave-safe bowl, add the marshmallow cream and water, then lightly mix them together, and microwave until nice and smooth at 20-second intervals. After melting the mixture together, pour it over the poked holes of the cake, then let it soak into the holes, and pour the rest over the cake. Put it inside the refrigerator and leave it for about 1 to 2 hours until set, then while waiting, whip together the whipped topping and hot chocolate in a mixing bowl, and spread it over the cooled cake. Drizzle fudge sauce over the whipped topping, then swirl it around, slice, serve, and enjoy!
