Vanilla extract is an essential ingredient for me, especially when I’m baking, it’s such a good flavor, and it makes any food more yummy. You can easily buy one from the store but making them on your own is much better and it makes the flavor richer. You only need 2 simple ingredients to make your vanilla extract and the steps are very easy, so I guarantee that you can do this even if you’re a beginner.

Although you might need more time and patience if you want a great-tasting vanilla extract, if you want it to be quicker, then you’re in for a treat because this video tutorial by Preppy Kitchen on YouTube will show just how to shorten the process from 1 month to just 1 hour! This will also make a great gift idea for the holidays, learn how to make this now.
Long Method
Using a sharp knife, cut the vanilla beans lengthwise splitting them in half to expose the seeds, then put them in a tight-lid pint-sized glass jar, and pour in the vodka. Seal the jar, then shake it forcefully to incorporate the vanilla seeds into the vodka, and store it in an area away from direct sunlight. Make sure to shake the jar occasionally at least once a week, then let the beans steep for about 6 to 12 months, or use it after 2 months, and transfer the liquid to a glass bottle.

Quick Method
Using a sharp knife, cut the vanilla beans lengthwise splitting them in half to expose the seeds, then put them in a tight-lid mason jar, then fill it with vodka up to the top so the beans are submerged, and seal the jar. Place the jar in an instant pot, then fill it with water just enough to cover the trivet, and seal the instant pot. Set the pot to 35 to 40 minutes, then make sure to not set it to venting, and to let it vent out naturally for about 1 hour.
