Meat Seasoning
Gravy
Step 1
Pat the roast dry, then combine all of the seasonings together, and rub the mixture onto the roast until well coated. Dredge the seasoned meat in flour and set it aside. Place a large pan on a stove over medium-high heat, then add the roast, and sear each side for about 2 to 3 minutes or until a brown crust starts to form.
Step 2
Remove it from the heat and set it aside, then in the same pan, add the chicken broth, beef broth, garlic powder, and soy sauce, and whisk them until combined making sure to scrape the bottom as you mix. Transfer the gravy to the crockpot, then add in the roast including the juices, and arrange the sliced potatoes and carrots around the meat.
Step 3
Cover the crockpot with the lid, then let the roast cook on a high setting for about 5 to 6 hours or a low setting for 8 to 10 hours, and make sure to keep the lid closed for the entire cooking time. Transfer the roast and veggies to a serving plate, then pour the juices from the crockpot into a saucepan, and bring it to a boil.
Step 4
Whisk the cornstarch and cold water together until well combined, then slowly pour the mixture into the saucepan, and whisk continuously until incorporated. Allow the gravy mixture to simmer over low heat until thickened, then add the Kitchen Bouquet browning to darken the color, and add in some cold butter if desired. Give them a good mix, then serve it with the roast and veggies, and enjoy!
