I love making my own bread instead of buying from the store because I prefer them freshly baked and healthy! One of my favorite go-to recipes is this one by Bincy Chris on YouTube, it’s super easy to make and requires only 8 ingredients. If you want to learn how, then proceed to read the instructions down below, and watch the video tutorial as well.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of plain flour or all-purpose flour, loosely packed
  • ¾ cup of oats
  • 1¼ tsp of salt
  • 1¼ tsp of instant or active dried yeast
  • 2 tbsp of butter
  • 1 cup of warm milk
  • ¼ cup of warm water
  • ¼ cup of honey

Directions:

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, instant yeast, salt, and oats, then whisk them all together until combined and evenly distributed, and set it aside. In another mixing bowl, add the warm milk, butter, and honey, then add the flour mixture, and using a wooden spoon, mix them all together until well combined and there are no dry patches left. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, then set it aside in a warm place, and let it rise for about 90 minutes. After 1 hour and 30 minutes, transfer the dough to a well-floured counter, then dust the top with some more flour, and shape the dough as shown in the video. Place the dough in a greased loaf pan, then cover it with plastic wrap, and set it aside in a warm place to proof for another 60 to 70 minutes.

Step 2

After an hour or so, brush some water on top of the dough, then sprinkle some oats, and slash the top along the middle lengthwise with a knife. Place it in a preheated oven at 350°F, then place a pan with one cup of hot water on the bottom rack of the oven (this will create steam and help the smooth rise of the bread), and allow it to bake for about 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure to tent the top of the bread with aluminum foil after 20 minutes of baking to prevent the top from browning too much. Brush some butter all over the top of the bread while it’s still warm, then let it cool down completely, and unmold. Slice the bread, then serve, and enjoy!
