What I love about this yummy recipe by Catherine’s Plates on YouTube is the fact that you can serve them for breakfast or dessert and it is very easy to prepare, too, which also makes this a perfect last-minute recipe idea. I already made these a couple of times and my family loved them so much that they asked me to make them more often, you should try this recipe out, I’m sure you’ll love it, too.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (12 rolls) of King’s Hawaiian original sweet rolls
  • 1 stick or ½ cup of butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp of brown sugar
  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 1 block (8 ounces) of cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tbsp of white granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

Directions:

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F, then grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray, and place the sweet rolls at the center making sure not to separate the rolls. Grab a knife and carefully carve a square at the center of each roll cutting it halfway down which leaves about ¼ inch all the way around the edges. Pop out the square from the roll, then place them in a large bowl or container with a lid, and set them aside so that you can turn them into croutons later if desired.

Step 2

In a small bowl, add the butter cut in half, then heat it up in the microwave until melted, and add the brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix them all together until combined and uniform, then using a pastry brush, generously brush it on the insides and outsides of the rolls until completely covered. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the cream cheese, then mix it around with a fork until smooth, add the sugar and egg, and continue to stir them all together until smooth and creamy.

Step 3

Scoop the cream mixture with a spoon and dollop them into the square holes of each roll until filled up to the top. Place them in the preheated oven, then allow them to bake for about 12 to 15 minutes or until the cheese mixture is set and lightly browned and the internal temperature has reached over 145°. Once done baking, remove them from the oven, then transfer them to the counter, let them cool down, and set for at least 5 to 7 minutes or so. Serve and enjoy!
