Isn’t it great when you can repurpose or recycle things instead of just throwing them in the trash? We consume a lot of soda bottles at home, and I make sure to collect them. There are tons of DIYs out there that I can do with plastic bottles, so I have a lot of choices to choose from. But since it’s already spring, I looked for garden projects. I found this easy hanging flower pot made from a plastic bottle by Kuti Bari on Youtube. Isn’t this beautiful? It’s simple to make and doesn’t even require a lot of materials. It’s perfect for your flowering plants like the one in this photo. Read on or watch the video below for full instructions.
Materials:
- 2 liter plastic bottle
- blade
- spray paint
- marker
- scissors
- lighter
- zip tie
Instructions:
Step 1:
Remove the label from the bottle. Draw a line around the bottle just an inch below the middle. Next, draw a line around the crease on the top part. Draw 4 small vertical strips between the two lines on each side equally spaced.
Step 2:
Carefully cut the rectangles formed in between each strip using a blade.
Step 3:
Using the cap of the bottle, draw half circles around the top and bottom lines just like in the photo below. Cut them out using a pair of sharp scissors. Make sure to not cut the thin strips.
Step 4:
Heat each of the curves using a lighter then bend outward.
Step 5:
Heat a small metal rod or screw and create 2 holes in the bottle cap. Insert the zip tie and make a handle.
Step 6:
Spray paint everything with your desired color.
Step 7:
Fill it with soil and plant flowers. Hang it in your garden.
