This tutorial also includes a free pattern and the finished block is 12″, this is the perfect quilt block for you to start with if you want to build confidence or try your skills with quilting and see where it takes you. Watch the video tutorial below to learn how to do it.
Step 1
Cut the fabrics to size as instructed in the pattern, then get the squares for the flying geese units, and line them diagonally on the back.
Step 2
Place a square on top of a rectangle’s end, then make sure their right sides are facing, and stitch them along the marked line. Trim off the excess layers, then press the seams toward the darker fabric, and continue to make the rest of the flying geese units using the same steps.
Step 3
Pair each unit with a print rectangle, then stack them with their right sides facing, and stitch on one long side making sure it’s the side where the triangles is pointing toward, press the seams as you go.
Step 4
Next, pair the print square with a background square making sure their right sides are facing, then stitch them on one side, and press nicely. Do the same for the remaining squares, then pair each unit to a print rectangle, and stitch them together.
Step 5
Arrange everything as shown in the video and the pattern, then stitch them per row, and the rows to each other pressing the seams as you go.
