Step 1

Place a pot of water on a stove over medium heat, then add the peeled and quartered potatoes, and throw in the peeled garlic cloves along with some salt. Bring it to a soft boil for about 20 to 30 minutes until fork tender, then drain off all the water, and leave the potatoes to steam for about 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 2

Meanwhile, place a saucepan on a stove over medium heat, then pour in the whole milk and heavy cream, and add the butter. Heat them until warmed through and melted, then give them a good stir to combine, turn off the heat, and set the dairy mixture aside.

Step 3

Once the potatoes are ready, transfer them to a mixing bowl then mash them until smooth, and pour in the hot dairy mixture. Using a spatula, fold them together until loosely combined, then adjust the salt if needed, and serve. Enjoy!

Alternative Method (Garlic Confit)

Step 1

Chop the top of the garlic head, then trim if needed to expose all of the cloves, and wrap them with aluminum foil or place in a Dutch oven.

Step 2

Drizzle some olive oil and sprinkle salt to taste, then cover the pot with the lid, and place it in an oven preheated at 375°F.

Step 3

Allow it to bake for about 40 minutes to 1 hour or until really soft, then squeeze out the garlic onto a bowl, and mash it down until smooth.

Step 4

Add some garlic oil if available, then adjust the salt to taste, and mix well. Transfer the garlic mixture to the mashed potatoes, then stir them, and serve. Enjoy!
