Chocolate cake
Milk bath
Frosting
Step 1
Place an 8-inch heavy bottom pan on a stove, then add and melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove it from the heat, then proceed to add in the cocoa powder, use a whisk to incorporate it on the melted butter. Add in the sugar and egg, whisk them together quickly until uniform. Sift the all-purpose flour before adding it onto the mixture so that it’s easier to combine, add in the baking soda and milk as well. Give them a good whisk then switch to a spatula, mix and scrape off the sides.

Step 2
Cover the pan with a lid, then cook the chocolate cake mixture over low heat for about 10 to 12 minutes. Keep an eye on the chocolate cake as the cooking duration can vary depending on the type of pan you used. Do a toothpick test to see if it is cooked through, put it back on the stove to cook some more if the toothpick comes out with a bit of crumb. Once done, remove the cake from the pan and transfer it onto a sheet of parchment paper, then let it cool completely. Put it back on the pan, then poke some holes all over it. Give it a milk bath and let it soak for a bit while preparing the frosting. Simply combine the heavy cream, chocolate, and Nutella in a measuring cup, then pour it over the cake. Spread it evenly then let it set before serving.
