We’ve all had experiences with leftover ingredients that spoiled over time, which we needed to throw out. It’s somehow an unavoidable situation especially when the portion of ingredients that we bought is just too much for one recipe, we sometimes end up forgetting about it or we just don’t know what to do with them. That’s where these hacks from Eating Healthy Spending Less via YouTube come in handy, they preserve foods and use easy methods without the hassle.
Hack #1
Slice any citrus however you want, then dab them on a paper towel to remove excess moisture, then place them on a parchment paper-lined on a cookie sheet, and freeze. Once the citrus slices are frozen, place each piece on a Ziploc bag and freeze (they can freeze up to a year). Use on your drinks or teas.

Hack #2
If you ever bought celery for just one recipe and don’t know what to do with the leftover, simply chop off the end or core, then chop them into small diced pieces. Put them in a Ziploc bag then freeze.
Hack #3
For excess or leftover spinach, simply place washed spinach on a Ziploc bag, then freeze. When you need some, take the bag out of the freezer then crinkle with your hands and you’ll have perfectly chopped spinach.
Hack #4
Place peeled garlic cloves on a food processor, then add ¼ cup of water then grind, scrape off the sides, then when it’s halfway done add another ¼ cup of water, then grind until incorporated or until it turns into a garlic paste. Sprinkle a pinch of salt then grind for about 10 more seconds. Scoop garlic paste onto the ice cube tray, then pop whenever you need some.
