Materials:

  • ½-inch plywood
  • A printed fabric of your choice
  • Ironing board fabric
  • Batting fabric
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
  • Staple gun
  • 3/8 staples
  • Wooden legs, optional
  • Stain or paint, optional

Directions:

Step 1

Cut the board to the same size as your cutting mat and cut the corners at an angle, then lay the fabric on a surface with its right side down, place the board at the top, and cut the fabric around with about 3 to 4 inches seam allowance all around the board. Remove the board, then lay the ironing board fabric on top of the printed fabric with its right side down as well making sure that it is cut to the same size as the board, and top the fabric with the batting fabric which is also at the same size as the board.

Step 2

Once the fabrics are all layered up nicely, place the board at the top making sure that it’s at the center, then bring the edges near the corner together, and fold down the bunch that gathers flatly as shown in the video. Staple the fabric at the corner securely, then proceed to fold down and staple the edges as well, and proceed with the same steps until all sides of the fabric are secured to the board. You can also add some wooden legs underneath the ironing board and paint them or leave them as is.
