DIYing is more than just a hobby for me—it’s actually very therapeutic. It’s a great way to take your mind off things while still being productive and creative. I also love how DIY projects allow you to repurpose old items and give them a new life. Not only is that incredibly satisfying, but it’s also a smart way to save money since you can make things at home instead of buying them.

Another thing I truly enjoy about creating my own projects is the freedom to design exactly what I want, especially when it comes to home decorations. Sometimes you already have a specific look in mind, but you just can’t find it anywhere. And even when you do, the price often isn’t budget-friendly. That’s why making your own decorations feels so rewarding—you get the style you want without overspending.

I love decorating my home for every holiday, but realistically, I can’t spend too much each time. So instead, I challenge myself to use materials I already have or can easily get. It’s amazing how simple items can turn into something beautiful with a little creativity.

Today’s DIY project is a heart wreath that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day—and it’s made entirely out of eco bags. Yes, eco bags! At first glance, you wouldn’t believe that’s what it’s made from because it turns out surprisingly beautiful. I was honestly impressed with the final result myself. Not only does it look great, but it’s also sturdy and durable, so you can store it away and reuse it year after year.
Learn how to make this eco bag heart wreath by following the step-by-step instructions below, and get ready to be pleasantly surprised by how stunning this simple project turns out.
How to Make an Eco Bag Heart Wreath
Step 1: Create and Trace the Heart Template

Draw a heart on bond paper to use as a template, then cut it out. Trace the heart onto the eco bag. From the bottom center, measure about 5 inches outward and make a mark. Continue marking around the edges of the heart, then connect the marks to form a larger heart outline.Step 2: Cut and Sew the Heart Shape

Cut out the heart shape, including the center of the heart. You will end up with two pieces: the front and the back. Sew along the inner heart edges using a backstitch, then sew around the outer heart in the same way, but make sure to leave a small opening unsewn.Step 3: Stuff and Close the Heart

Fill the heart evenly with polyester fiberfill. Once you’re satisfied with the fullness, sew the open section closed to seal the heart completely.Step 4: Prepare the Heart Petals

Trace a circle onto the eco bag and cut it out. Fold the circle in half, apply a small amount of hot glue to the center, then fold it in half again. Repeat this process to make several folded pieces, ensuring you have enough to cover the entire heart.Step 5: Attach Petals and Add the Hanger

Begin gluing the folded petals onto the heart, starting from the edges and working toward the center, until the entire heart is covered. Then, cut a piece of ribbon to your desired length, fold it in half, and attach it to the back of the heart to create a hanger.
