I’ve tried a lot of gumbo recipes before but this one is incredibly mouth-watering and irresistible that you won’t be able to stop eating for sure. It’s so good and is filled with lots of yummy flavors, serve this with hot steamed rice for extra deliciousness, and enjoy it over lunch or dinner. Check out this video tutorial by Smokin’ & Grillin with AB on YouTube to learn how now.
Step 1
Preheat some olive oil on a Dutch oven, then slice the chicken into thin pieces, and season them with salt and pepper before adding them to the pot. Sear them well on both sides, then remove and transfer to a bowl, and in the same pan and oil add in the sausages. Toss and cook them until nicely browned, then remove and transfer to the same bowl as the cooked chicken, and in the same pot, add the flour.

Step 2
Stir and cook the flour for a bit, then pour in the vegetable, and keep stirring until combined. Cook it until thick and dark brown, then add the chopped onion and celery, and continue to stir until combined. Add the bell pepper and minced garlic, then give them a good stir, add the diced tomatoes, and season them with cayenne pepper, cajun seasoning, and gumbo file.
Step 3
Pour in the stock, then bring it to a boil, and stir now and then until incorporated. Put the cooked chicken and sausage back into the pot, then mix them, and allow it to simmer while covered over low heat for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once done simmering, add the okra, then stir to combine, and allow it to cook for a few more minutes before turning off the heat. Serve and enjoy!
