I love eating donuts and trying out different flavors, but lately, I’ve been making them on my own instead of buying them from the nearest coffee shop. I’ve discovered that homemade donuts are cheaper and taste more delicious because you can put as much glaze or topping as you want, plus, you can try out more flavors that you don’t usually see from coffee shops. Probably one of my most recent favorites is this cream-filled donut recipe by Savor Easy on YouTube! I love the sweet crust, soft bread, and creamy filling, pretty much everything about this donut. If you’re still not convinced, then you probably should try this out, and see for yourself.
Dough
Custard Creme
Caramel Sauce
Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, add the sugar, egg, and instant yeast, then whisk them together until well combined before adding the salt and continue to mix them until it forms into a dough. Cover the bowl for about 10 minutes, then add the unsalted butter, and knead the dough until incorporated. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured counter, then continue to knead until smooth and elastic, and then transfer the dough to a well-oiled bowl. Cover the bowl and set it aside until double in size. For the custard creme, place a large saucepan on a stove over medium heat, then add the milk and sugar, and whisk them together to combine.

Step 2
In a separate large bowl, add the egg yolks, milk, and vanilla extract, then give them a good whisk before adding the cornstarch and continue to whisk until dissolved. Pour the egg mixture into the hot milk while whisking continuously, and keep on whisking until the mixture has thickened. Add the butter, then give them a good stir before transferring the mixture to a glass bowl, cover, and let it cool completely. Get the dough and degas it, then reshape, and roll it out until 12mm or ½ inch thick. Using a 3-inch cookie cutter, cut the dough to get round-shaped pieces, then re-roll the excess dough, and continue to cut.
Step 3
Cover the dough for about 15 minutes, then place a large pan or pot on a stove over medium-low heat, and heat up enough oil to deep dry the dough. Once ready, deep fry each dough until each side is crispy and golden brown, then poke a hole on the side of each donut, and fill it with the prepared custard creme using a piping bag. Place a saucepan on a stove over medium-low heat, then add the sugar and water, and let them cook until brown. Let the caramel sauce cool down a bit, then dip each donut, and set aside to let the crust harden. Serve and enjoy!
