Ingredients:

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • Ingredients listed in the cake mix box
  • 1 can (21 ounces) of cherry pie filling
  • 1 tub of extra creamy Cool Whip whipped topping
  • 1 (16 0unces) jar of maraschino cherries
  • Chocolate shavings, for topping

Directions:

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, then grease a cake pan with a nonstick cooking spray, dust it with flour, and set it aside. Prepare the chocolate cake according to package instructions, then let it bake for about 32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean, remove it from the oven, unmold it, and place it on a wire cooling rack for about 10 minutes. Once the cake has cooled completely, slice through the cake to separate it into two layers.

Next, place one layer at the bottom of a baking dish, and then spread the cherry pie filling all over the top evenly. Place the other layer of cake on top, then spread the thawed whipped topping on top evenly, top with maraschino cherries, and sprinkle shaved chocolate all over the top. You can also drizzle some chocolate syrup if you want, then put it in the fridge to chill, serve, and enjoy!
