For me, the best part of any chocolate is the frosting and the topping, they are the finishing touch and determine the cake’s overall tastiness. With that being said, I am very picky when it comes to frosting because I just want the best, but at the same time, I also want a recipe that’s very simple and quick to make.

One of my favorite recipes to make is this one by Joon’s Little Table on YouTube because it is so good and I just love how easy it is to make. I bet that even beginners in baking can make this perfectly on their first try. Learn how now by reading the instructions below.

Ingredients for Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:

  • ½ cup + 1½ tbsp of granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup of water
  • ¼ cup of cocoa powder
  • 1¼ cup of unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract, optional

Step 1

In a saucepan, add the sugar and water, then place it on a stove over medium-low heat, and let it simmer shaking the pan gently every once in a while.

Step 2

Once boiling, turn off the heat, then remove it from the stove, and allow it to cool for about 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 3

After cooling down, sift over the cocoa powder, then whisk them well to combine, and let it cool until lukewarm.

Step 4

In a mixing bowl, add the softened butter, then pour in the cooled chocolate mixture, and add in the vanilla mixture.

Step 5

Beat them to combine, then scrape the side, and keep beating until smooth and desired consistency.
