Do you love Chinese takeouts? Then I’m sure you also love chicken chow mein! This recipe from Food Fusion on Youtube is the best version out there. It’s simple but packed with lots of flavors – just how you want your dish to be. It’s also quite easy to make, and your family will surely be impressed by how good it tastes.
Add enough water to a pot and bring it to a boil. Once it boils, add the spaghetti noodles. Season it with 1 & 1/2 tsp salt and let it boil until done. Strain and rinse the noodles with tap water, then drizzle with 2 tbsp cooking oil to prevent them from sticking. Set aside. In a bowl, add 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1/2 tbsp vinegar, 1 tsp white pepper powder, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1 tsp garlic powder. Mix well, then add the chicken strips. Mix well until the chicken strips are fully coated. Add 1/4 tsp baking soda and continue mixing. Leave it for 15 minutes. In a saucepan, heat 2 tbsp cooking oil, then add the chicken strips. Cook until done (four to five minutes.) Set aside for later.

In another bowl, add 2 tbsp soy sauce, 3 tbsp chili sauce, 1 tbsp chili garlic sauce, 2 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp salt, and 1 tsp black pepper. Mix well, then set it aside. In another saucepan, heat 2 tbsp of cooking oil and add 1 cup of julienned carrots, 1 cup of julienned bell pepper, and 1 & 1/2 cups of shredded cabbage. Saute for two minutes, then transfer to a plate. In the same pan, heat 2 tbsp of cooking oil again and add the sliced garlic and 2 tbsp chopped spring onion. Saute for one minute, then add the cooked noodles followed by the chicken strips and prepared sauce. Cook for one minute. Next, add the veggies and give it one final mix. Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with some chopped spring onion.
