Ingredients:

Dough

  • 6 tbsp milk
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour or wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Fillings

  • 2 potatoes
  • 2 tbsp bacon crumbs
  • 1 tbsp chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • Mozzarella cheese

Directions:

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, add the milk, salt, all-purpose flour, or wheat flour, then mix them all together until flaky dough forms, add the unsalted butter, and knead until no more dry flour is visible and the dough is smooth. Cover the dough with plastic wrap, then put it inside the refrigerator, and let it chill for about 10 minutes. Place a pot over medium heat, then fill it with water, add the potatoes, and bring it to a boil while covered until fork tender. Once the potatoes are tender, remove them from the pot, then transfer them to a mixing bowl, and mash them with a fork.

Step 2

In a small bowl, add the bacon crumbs and chopped onions, then heat in the microwave for 30 seconds, and stir for a bit to stimulate the flavor. Get the mashed potatoes, then add the mayonnaise, and add the bacon crumbs and onions. Give them a good mix until thoroughly combined and incorporated, then set it aside, and then take the dough out of the fridge. Transfer the dough to the floured counter, then flatten it with a rolling pin into a large round sheet, and until it is thin as possible with a diameter of 30cm or 11.8 inches. Now, spread some cheese in the middle, then top it with the mashed potato mixture, and add more cheese on top.

Step 3

Gather the sides at the center and wrap the filling like a bun, then pinch the folds tightly while flattening it at the same time, flip it over so the smooth side is up, and gently flatten it a bit with a rolling pin. Place a pan over medium-low heat, then grease it generously with cooking oil, and place the dough with its rough side down. Brush the top with a layer of oil, then cover it with the lid, and fry for about 3 to 5 minutes. Flip it over, then cover it with the lid again, and cook for 3 to 5 more minutes until nice and golden brown. Flip it over once more, then transfer the bread to a plate, slice, serve, and enjoy!
