If you’re planning to attend a BBQ party or you are going to host one, make sure to include this side dish by Food Wishes on YouTube on your menu list! This is super yummy and easy to prepare and is sure to make any food you are serving more delicious than it already is.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds  of finely chopped green cabbage
  • 2 tsp of kosher salt
  • ¾ cup of ketchup
  • ½ cup of red bell peppers, finely diced
  • ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp of white sugar
  • 1 tsp of smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp of freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp of sambal chili sauce, or to taste
  • 1 tbsp of Sriracha hot sauce, or to taste
  • 2 tbsp of sliced green onions, or as needed, optional

Directions:

Step 1

Chop the cabbage finely, then add them to a large mixing bowl, and sprinkle some salt over them. Toss them well, then let them sit for about 30 minutes, and then transfer the chopped cabbage to a strainer before setting it aside. Let the cabbage drain for about 10 minutes, then in a large mixing bowl, add the ketchup, red bell pepper, cider vinegar, sugar, smoked paprika, black pepper, cayenne pepper, sambal chili sauce, and sriracha, and then mix them all together until well combined and uniform.

Step 2

Press the cabbage in the strainer to remove all of the excess water, then throw the liquid away, and add the cabbage to the prepared dressing. Mix them all together until well combined, then cover the slaw with plastic wrap, and place it in the refrigerator to chill for about 6 to 24 hours making sure to toss occasionally. Taste and adjust the flavor as desired or as needed, then garnish with sliced green onions and serve. Enjoy!
