Reserve some of the bacon to cover the top later, about 5 slices, then cut the remaining slices into small bite-sized pieces, and chop the onions as well. Place a medium-sized saucepan on a stove over medium-high heat, then add the bacon and onions, and cook them for about 3 minutes.

Next, add the ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, and pepper, then whisk them together until well combined, and remove from heat. Pour the sauce over the beans on the baking dish, then gently stir them together until combined and incorporated, and chop the reserved bacon slices into small bite-sized pieces before topping them all over the bean mixture. Put the beans inside the preheated oven and let them bake for about 60 minutes or until the sauce has thickened and the bacon is cooked through. Serve on the side of your favorite dish and enjoy!
