Ingredients:

  • 5 large eggs or 6 medium eggs
  • 11 oz of semi-sweet chocolate

For topping (optional):

  • powdered sugar
  • ice cream or whipped cream

Instructions:

Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F or 160 degrees C. Line a 7-inch or 18-cm round cake pan with parchment paper at the bottom, then grease all sides with butter. Set it aside.

Step 2:

Chop the chocolate into small pieces, then place in a heatproof bowl. Fill a pot with water and place over heat. Let the water simmer then set the bowl over the pot and melt it completely. You can also melt the chocolates in the microwave in 20-second pulses. Remove the bowl from the heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 3:

Crack the eggs and separate the yolks from the whites in 2 different bowls. Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form.

Step 4:

Add the egg yolks, one at a time to the melted chocolates and stir until well combined.

Step 5:

Add 1/3 of the egg whites into the chocolate mixture, then fold gently. Repeat for the remaining egg whites.

Step 6:

Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Shake the pan to level the top.

Step 7:

Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes.

Step 8:

Once done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar or put ice cream or whipped cream on top. Serve and enjoy!
